Italian Research Takes Centre Stage In The Future Of Ict
Wednesday, July 21st the first presentation of “Trento RISE”, the consortium that has become partner to the European Institute of Innovation and Technology.
(v.l.) Italian research has achieved a chance to play a leading role in the strategic ICT (information and communications technology) sector in future years at European level. In particular, the Trento RISE consortium, that includes the Trentino Research, Innovation and Superior Education System in the field of information science and telecommunications, has recently passed the severe international competition for becoming a partner of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body that, as regards the ICT sector (EIT ICT Labs), will be able to count on public and private financing for one billion euros over the next five years.
The first presentation of the consortium shall be held on the occasion of the event “Trento Research, Innovation and Education System (Trento RISE) in the EIT ICT Labs” organized for Wednesday, July 21st in Trento at Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK).
Comprising the research and superior education bodies FBK, University of Trento, CREATE-NET, Graphitech, ISTC-CNR and CELCT, the Trento RISE consortium shall illustrate its objectives and make the acquaintance of its Italian and foreign partners attending the event.
Over two hundred attending experts from around the world shall be welcomed by the president of Fondazione Bruno Kessler, Andrea Zanotti, and by the dean of the University of Trento, Davide Bassi, at 9 a.m. at the FBK headquarters in Via Sommarive 18 in Povo (Trento). The conference, to be held in English with simultaneous interpreting service, shall continue throughout the day until 6 p.m..
The research objectives to be developed with their industrial partners include advanced futuristic Internet solutions, medical diagnostics, domotics and new technologies applicable to the energy and environment sectors. Funding shall be European (EIT and European Union), national, regional and from the private sector.
The event will be held at the headquarters of Fondazione Bruno Kessler in Povo (Trento) on July 21st, 2010
The event shall be attended by the major international, national and local partners of the Consortium "Trento RISE" (Research Innovation Education System) for the EIT (European Institute of Innovation and Technology) ICT Labs.
