This photograph of the eyes of a jumping spider (Salticus scenicus) was taken by Dr. Igor Siwanowicz of the Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology in Martinsried, Germany, using confocal microscopy. It was designated an Image of Distinction in the 2011 Nikon Small World Photomicrophotography Competition.
