This photo shows embryos of the species Molossus rufus (black mastiff bat). It was awarded twentieth place the 2012 Nikon Small World Photomicrophotography Competition. Dorit Hockman of the Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom used a brightfield technique to capture the image.
