Garlic in Early Flowering Stage

This photo shows garlic in its first stages of flowering (floral primordia of Allium sativum). It was awarded ninteenth place the 2012 Nikon Small World Photomicrophotography Competition. Dr. Somayeh Naghiloo of the Department of Plant Biology, Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Tabriz in Iran used epi-Illumination to capture the image.
