Thale Cress Plant

Click to Enlarge -- Courtesy of Nikon Small WorldThis 20x photograph of thale cress (Arabidopsis thaliana), which was the first plant to have its genome sequenced, was honored as an Image of Distinction in the 2012 Nikon Small World Photomicrophotography Competition. It was taken by Dr. Heiti Paves of the Tallinn University of Technology, Department of Gene Technology, in Tallinn, Estonia, using confocal microscopy.
